Traffic Delays Caused by New Light Timings on London Road (A287 Junction)

Reported via desktop in the Other Road Issues category anonymously at 07:45, Mon 3 November 2025

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8368088.

Since the recent road resurfacing, the traffic light timings at the junction have changed. Traffic is now being held for longer, particularly in the right-turn filter lane from London Road towards Hook Common (A287). This is creating significantly longer queues that extend back beyond the filter lane and block the through lane for vehicles continuing along London Road towards the parade of shops in Hook.

Drivers are attempting to move over early and are often waiting on the hatched markings as the road divides into two lanes, but the queue consistently stretches further back, causing ongoing congestion and delays.

I travel this route twice daily and have done so for over ten years, and this level of congestion has never been an issue before the recent changes.
