URGENT: Dangerous Lane Markings Causing Head-on Conflict Risk

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 14:45, Sunday 2 November 2025

Sent to Cardiff Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8366400.

Location: Junction of Sanatorium Road, Heol Terrell, and Broad Street, Canton, Cardiff. (Red pointer and coordinates in the image provided illustrate the exact location of the junction)

The lane markings on Sanatorium Road (bottom of image), approaching the junction with Heol Terrell (top of image) and Broad Street (left of image), are dangerously configured and pose a significant head-on collision risk. The current markings allow the right-hand lane on Sanatorium Road to travel STRAIGHT ON towards Heol Terrell. This forces vehicles travelling straight ahead to cross directly into the path of opposing traffic (vehicles coming out of Heol Terrell and waiting in the yellow box to turn right onto Broad Street). This design creates an immediate conflict and a severe safety hazard that needs urgent review and correction.

Updates

  • Wasn’t expecting a lot to come from this complaint to the council but to my surprise had a reply within 3 weeks saying they are acting on it and they have already fixed the issue by repainting the road markings correctly

    State changed to: Fixed
