Ash Tree located on private land problem
Reported in the Ash Tree located on private land category by Gloucestershire County Council at 09:02, Tue 28 October 2025
FixMyStreet ref: 8348351.
I reported an ash tree to Stroud District Council which had 50% of it's foliage left in summer. I know that once this level of ash dieback is reached, the tree is in danger of falling. I see the tree directly in front of me whenever I leave my own address in Hawthorn Rise. It is nowhere near my own property, but sits between some (possibly council) garages & a row of council bungalows in The Martins. There are 4 different postcodes allocated to this "street" and I don't know which postcode is nearest the tree, which is in a direct line with Hawthorn Rise. I contact you as a concerned member of the public, lest the tree fall across the bungalows in the prevailing westerly winds and seriously hurt someone. SDC checked the address, agreed the tree looked dangerous - then said it was on a footpath which they had sold, so they couldn't do anything. They do not know who the footpath belongs to and suggest I contact you. Please note that I live at least 500yds from said tree, which is of no danger to myself or my property. I am however, concerned on behalf of the people who are in its path should it fall this winter.
