Bags of rubbish left outside doors, cats getting into them, rubbish put into wrong bins not being emptied

Reported in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category anonymously at 12:18, Wed 1 June 2016

Sent to Breckland District Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 833293.

Several residents of flats 65-77 St Michaels Close are leaving their bags of rubbish outside their doors, which cats are getting into leaving a mess behind. A fire and tripping hazard. People are putting the wrong rubbish in the wrong bins, meaning they are not being emptied. Particularly the recycling bins which are now all full. Plastic bags full of recycling items are not meant to be in the recycling bins, has been reported countless times, nothing is done. These problems have been going on for several months

Updates

  • As far as I am aware there has been no action taken to stop people putting bags of rubbish outside their doors, or to put the correct items in the correct bins. The recycling bins in question were emptied on Monday 27th July, by which time they had been full for many weeks. There has been an extra green bin delivered (last week) which will be a great help if the correct things are put in it

  • Bags of rubbish are still being left outside doors, this needs to be addressed by Flagship. Another green bin has not been emptied for 4 weeks because once again it contains plastic bags. Tenants need to be told about this also

  • This is still an on going issue. It seems that if Flagship are informed, they do little or nothing about the situation.

The next course of action will be a social media and local media campaign against Flagship housing

  • A recycling bin has once again not been emptied for several weeks because it has been filled with the wrong items. Breckland are only responsible for emptying the bins, Flagship need to ensure their tenants are not filling them with the wrong items. There are several items of furniture/ garden equipment left outside a garage in St Michael's close by the former tenant of no 69, the same person who filled up the recycling bin with the wrong items.

  • The recycling bin has been emptied, but the rubbish is still outside the garage, the recycling bins are still being filled with plastic bags etc and certain residents are still leaving bags of rubbish and old furniture outside their doors. Breckland have done their part, Flagship have done nothing as usual
