Cyclists forced into path of cars

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 17:28, Tue 21 October 2025

Sent to Liverpool City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8323290.

Hello. The cycle lane along Barnham/Gatacre Park Drive from jcn Childwall Valley Rd to Escor Road has become blocked in places by overhanging trees and verges growing over the path. When it rains the surface is treacherous in places because the verge encroaching onto the path churns to mud. The overhanging trees/mud force cyclists out into the path of cars. Drivers don't expect because they believe the cyclists are using the path (they dont realise the surface is muddy/way is blocked. Is there any chance of having the trees cut back and the verges encroaching onto the path cut back to the kerb? I appreciate there's little you can do stop drivers churning the verges to pulp (other than adding protection measures which will probably be too expensive and unpopular), but if the tree branches and the verges could be removed that would be great and so much safer.
