Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 14:25, Sat 11 October 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8282654.

This section of Elvendon Road his been bad for a long while and getting worse. The road surface is deteriorating and pothole’s getting bigger while there is a lot of dirt and gravel buildup making the surface very bumpy and difficult to navigate. Cyclists and other road users have to take this section of road very cautiously

  • This is becoming almost impassable. No repairs have ever been made over the years. Drivers not used to the road will not be aware of the deep holes which are impossible to avoid. For all drivers, when it’s wet, one cannot tell where to attempt to pass.

  • Continuing to deteriorate, when wet the potholes are covered with water and impossible to see. It is becoming impossible to avoid the potholes as there are so many on this stretch of road. Around the potholes is a build up of gravel that gets washed down every time there is heavy rain, this has become rutted causing more obstacles to navigate around.

  • In a state, it is impossible to avoid potholes, best you can do is roll slowly through them.

  • More photos of this stretch of road that is deteriorating. The middle of the road is inches high in gravel that needs to be removed.

  • Please could you provide an update with what you are going to do about the pot holes here and the ones a little further up. The road is horrific!! You have to dodge the holes by going up on one side and off onto the other, it feels like going on a rally every time you use this road, it jolts your bones about! As for the poor cars & the damage it is causing. The road has been like this for many years and it’s ridiculous that nothing has been done about it. If a cyclist or motor bike come along here and didn’t realise the state of the road there would be quite the accident. When can we expect this to be resolved?

  • Even when you do know the road, it has become impossible to know how to pass this point - the potholes are across the full width of the road. It really must be looked at. There has never been any acknowledgement from you that these reports have been noted.

  • Over 3 months since this problem was reported and nothing has been done. In this time the potholes have increased in size and number and the gravel has increased in volume and has become more and more rutted. It is a challenge to pass in a standard car, it is outright dangerous for a bicycle or motorbike. When it has rained it is a guessing game where the pot holes are.

  • If this was actually investigated, you would see what a state the road is in. I live in this road and now always have to make long detours, because it has become impossible to know how to get past this point. The holes reach across the whole width of the road. There is another patch about 100 yards up from this one, which is becoming as bad. I will report this too. PLEASE would someone take a look and realise the severity of the problem.
