40mph repeater signs with no previous terminal signs

Sent to Stockport Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8272988.

The speed limit appears to have been changed here, it used to be 50 until about 400m further North. But there are no terminal signs to mark the new switch from 50 to 40, instead the repeater signs just change. Not only is this confusing, but as I'm sure you're aware it is not legally enforceable.
