Ferquent flooding on Castle Hill, St Fagans

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category by John Griffiths at 18:19, Tue 7 October 2025

Sent to Cardiff Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8265577.

I have cleared the grids on 2 drains on Castle Hill - one half way up and one at the bottom. Sadly both drains are silted up to the point that water cannot flow away. This results in a large lake at the bottom of Castle Hill every time there is a heavy shower. The residents of 3 nearby properties are left unable to leave their houses on foot.

  • Problem remains. Every time there is heavy rain for an hour or two the road opposite the flats at the bottom of Castle Hill has a huge lake on it. The two properties which require access via the 'lake' are locked in - one of them doesn't drive so can't get out at all. Clearing the drain cover doesn't seem to improve things much. I suspect the drain under the road is blocked.
