Overgrown Trees Causing Damage

Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 19:27, Mon 6 October 2025

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8260569.

We have an issue concerning overgrown trees from the grass area adjacent to De Montfort Court and De Quincey Close in Brackley, which are encroaching onto our property at 8 De Montfort Court.

The branches have grown into our roof, causing damage, including to the verge and tiles, which we recently had to repair at our own expense. In addition, the roots from these trees are damaging our driveway. This has created a safety hazard—one family member has already suffered a fall due to raised concrete. We have now approved works to replace the driveway at great cost to ourselves.

We kindly request that the Council arranges for these trees to be pruned or otherwise managed to prevent further encroachment and damage to our property. We would appreciate confirmation of what actions will be taken and an estimated timeline for resolution.

Please see this link with a short video highlighting the growth into the house, and also onto the field showing the size of the tree.

  • A fix was scheduled. A team came out but only reduced the Willow (that causes no issues!) that was growing onto the field and removed a few low level branches on the big tree that is causing issues.

This is by no means fixed and still requires a severe pruning from the top of the tree.
