Very noisy manhole cover

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8257547.

Ongoing issue with noisy manhole cover for the last 8 years, first reported in 2016. various temporary repairs have subsequently failed after only a month. can a more permanant solution be found for this issue, I will send an update to my local coucillor who has asked for reports on this problem.

  • The manhole cover on Speedwell Street has still not been resolved and I see others have reported. I have always been aware of it, but believe it has got louder over the past 1-2 months. It causes great disturbance to the nearby flats, especially during the night. Please advise on when this issue will be addressed.

  • Was at a nearby flat at the weekend. The sound the manhole cover creates when a bus hits it has got much louder and intense. There are buses running frequently over the cover all day and night. It is unacceptable for local residents.

  • Please provide an update - this cover is becoming increasingly noisy keeping residents awake at night. It is even louder than when first reported. It has also been reported to Thames Water. Please resolve.
