Investigating
Tarmac covering Thames water lid
Reported via mobile in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 21:51, Sunday 5 October 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8256021.
I’ve reported this in February (ref number 7338 223) and you’ve only just replied to me in October which you’ve now replied with, case is now closed. Unfortunately we’ve never had anyone get in touch and had no one to investigate the problem! When our pavements got resurfaced the Thames water lid got covered up we would like it to be uncovered to have access to it please.

Thank you for your report. I apologise, but we are confused on what you are requesting as there appears to be no other covers in this area that would be covered up and if you could give further information and explain what type of cover has been tarmacked over with a clear picture. Thank you.

We would like a water meter but Thames Water can’t put one in because the “water” metal cover where the main stopcock is has been covered over with tarmac on the public footpath outside our driveway and they cannot disturb the ground and said we would need to get hold of County Council first to get it dug up, to have access to it. You can’t see it because it’s covered up but it’s where I’ve took a picture before. I’ve now took 2 photos, one is ours (photo on the left) of where it should be and the other is our neighbour’s water cover, to show you what it looks like. Not sure if you can see the photo of my neighbours as it looks blank when downloading it to your system.
