Reported via desktop anonymously at 10:54, Monday 29 September 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8227137.

There is Japanese knotweed growing on the verge near my property. Can this be removed urgently? I am worried about it spreading into my property.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
