Sudden proliferation of trip hazard backless low benches

Reported by SHEILA HAWKEN at 17:00, Mon 9 May 2016

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 5 minutes later

Low benches with no back are proliferating in the city in areas such as Kingsmead Square. These are a trip hazard for people with certain visual impairments. They are also too low for many disabled people with back and joint problems to use and lack armrests to enable one to push oneself up. Other benches with backs have seats which are too low and which slope down towards the back, making it difficult to get up and also they do not provide the support afforded by traditional benches.

  • Nothing has been done. The one outside Sainsbury's is very hazardous to anyone with visual impairments.
