Illegal / Dangerous Parking near junction of Kendal Park and Blackmoor Junior School

Reported via mobile in the Car parking category anonymously at 06:58, Wed 17 September 2025

Sent to Liverpool City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8175546.

On a daily basis there is illegal and dangerous parking at the entrance to Kendal Park.

This has long been and continues to be a serious issue and presents a real danger to both school children and pedestrians alike. Once again recently I was forced to walk into the middle of the road with a push chair and my 3 young children and all I got back was a mouthful of abuse from the women whose car was completely blocking the path. Unfortunately this is typically the type of people who choose to park in this way so its extremely difficult to have any kind of reasoned conversation with them.

We all know about the possible tragic results of disregarding road safety around schools all too well and need only look across the road at Bobby memorial tree as a stark reminder. My real fear is that it'll take another tragedy to focus people's minds again. I've personally had a near miss when a driver mounted the kerb and nearly reversed over my 7 year old son. Its completely unacceptable and can't continue.

I sincerely hope that through future engagement with Blackmoor, the local council and the police that we finally get bollards installed which will be the only way to guarantee the safety of the kids and pedestrians and prevent illegal parking.

Updates

  • Problem still persists. School children, pedestrians and fellow motorists continue to be endangered by the illegal and dangerous parking. This will not resolve itself until action is taken and wooden bollards are installed like in many other areas of West Derby. There will be another death like Bobby Collerans and the Council should head these warnings.
