Illegal flags
Reported via desktop in the Unauthorised signs category anonymously at 19:10, Mon 15 September 2025
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8169349.
These flags have clearly been put up without permission and appear to be done with racist intent, rather than as part of any official event or celebration. This is not only illegal but also deeply embarrassing for the area, creating a hostile and unwelcoming impression for residents and visitors. Lamp posts should not be used for political or discriminatory displays. I request that the council take urgent action to remove these flags and ensure this behaviour is not repeated.
Updates

The Highway Officer will attend the site plotted on the map and make arrangements for the unauthorised sign to be removed.
As part of our highway management strategy, unauthorised signs will be removed from the highway, removal will be prioritised according to highway safety, resource requirements and the interests of the community. The Council may exercise their discretion not to enforce in some situations (e.g., small scale charity events).
These signs will be held for 28 days and there will be a storage fee of the unauthorised signs that do not comply with this policy where applicable.

Update
Buckinghamshire Highways operates two methods for safety defect identification; proactively by Highway Inspectors who identify safety defects in line with Highways Safety Inspection Policy and reactively by Highway Officers following reports from the public. We are responsible for the maintenance of 2,200 miles of road and 1,500 miles of footpaths in Buckinghamshire, this means we have to prioritise works based on a set criteria which includes issues which may present an immediate danger, or significant inconvenience to users of the roads/footpaths, or to the structural condition of the highway and assets contained with the highway boundary.
Whilst priority defects will receive a repair within appropriate timescales as dictated by the above policy, more minor defects such as the defect you have reported may not be immediately scheduled for repair.
State changed to: No further action
