Need a children playing sign

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8161161.

The cul-de-sack needs a children playing sign there are lots of children playing here and delivery vans speed into it not knowing this which is dangerous, one of the lamp posts at the entrance to crescent close desperately needs children playing sign for safety

  • Thank you for your report. However, Oxfordshire County Council is bound by national Department for Transport regulations, that specify the permitted types of signs used on the highway.
    This includes the exact wording of the sign or any supplementary plate it might have. Sadly, the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 does not provide any sign, or wording, that warns of children playing in the road. Consequently, we cannot provide or approve such signs, as they would be illegal.
    Indeed, we have had to remove similar in the past, where individuals have installed them on the highway Without permission.
