Ditch/gully is full with hedge cuttings and leaves

Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 10:12, Fri 12 September 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8155753.

I was told when I reported the problem 2 years ago that the ditch had been cleared in 2019… it is now 6 years on… there is now significant build-up that clogs the pipes (see photos). Debris gathers at the sharp corner at the eastern end of Earls Lane and then flows over the verge down towards Clifton Road, impacting multiple properties every spring and autumn. Please could you arrange clearance to avoid the annual misery? The farmers have been diligent keeping hedges tidy but now there’s a collapsed wall in the ditch too…The problem runs all the way from opposite the health centre to Green Lane. Sincere thanks in advance.

  • The heavy autumn deluges have begun... and I am just waiting for the flooding again...which means we will put wellies on and get in the ditch to clear the debris and try to permit the water to flow away... As an aside, Earls Lane is closed at the moment to allow Thames Water to complete mains upgrades so it could be a good time to access things without traffic control complications...?
