Gate locked: main route for children cycling to Leckhampton High School now blocked

The route through Burrows Field and Lotts Meadow is used by a huge number of children from Naunton Park and Leckhampton cycling to HSL school. The gate into Lotts Meadow from Kidnappers Lane has now been padlocked shut (almost spitefully), meaning children cannot get their bikes through it. The circular pedestrian gate does not allow bikes through. As a consequence, children must take the much more dangerous and longer cycle route along Church Road on the carriageway with traffic, or detour to the Shurdington Road (which is currently more dangerous because of all the roadworks). If the gate cannot be unlocked, could the council look to install a pedestrian gate which allows bikes through, please? I presume the council's position is still to encourage children to cycle to school. I and a good number of HSL parents are concerned about the safety of our children cycling to school if this essential route is cut off to them. Thank you.
