Road in state of disrepair

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 11:45, Mon 8 September 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8135524.

Lovegrove's Lane is currently in a state of disrepair with uncountable potholes making it exceptionally challenging to navigate and risk damage to vehicles. The road is also regular used by walkers cyclist and riders from the adjacent equestrian centres. The state of the road surface can be treacherous underfoot, especially during periods of rainfall.

  • Potholes are even worse now, so numerous that it is almost impossible to avoid them, and deep with jagged edges so very dangerous for cyclists especially especially when filled with water

  • The potholes are too big to avoid and it is making a lot more dangerous after heavy rains. All potholes along Lovegrove Lane are endangering horses and people driving along the road.

  • The potholes are getting too big and unavoidable, it’s becoming more and more hazardous to cars, cyclist and horses. Need to fix it before more harm towards human and animals.

  • This road is dangerous. The width of the carriageway and the fact that there’s 2 deep potholes on either side in close proximity leaves no safe way to avoid them. Several of them are well over 40 mm deep which is the recognised UK threshold for a dangerous pothole that can cause serious vehicle damage.

Last night, after hitting these specific unavoidable potholes, my car suffered severe damage underneath and consequently to its engine, leading to it breaking down, and left me stranded at the roadside. I am now facing significant repair costs that I should never have had to pay simply for using a public road.

These potholes are not minor defects — they are a serious hazard and should have been repaired long ago and the comments that were posted on here months ago should not have been ignored. Immediate action is needed before more vehicles are damaged or someone gets hurt.
