Flooding WILL cause accidents with children at crossing
Reported via desktop in the The drain is damaged category anonymously at 14:00, Thu 4 September 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8119165.
The water does NOT drain within an hour. The drain is on HIGH ground. This has been a KNOWN PROBLEM for over 8 months. HUNDREDS of children cross here twice a day every weekday. When it rains and floods, the children are forced onto the cycle path. A cyclist will hit a child. I was told the problem had been identified and this would be fixed BEFORE school re-started by GCC: "Following post-construction inspections, the team has identified that remedial work is necessary at this location to correct the levels. We plan to address this issue during the installation of the footpath extension and gully repositioning, which are part of the ongoing cycleway expansion project. We anticipate completing these improvements and remedial work by the end of spring 2025."

Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.
We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance
If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide
If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.
We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
