Street Lights not working

Reported via desktop in the Street light not working category anonymously at 12:47, Monday 1 September 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8102650.

Dear Council, This street light has been broken for several months, possibly due to a car accident involving the post. Since then, it appears that the rest of the street lights on the road have also stopped working. With the days getting shorter, the street is now extremely dark at night, making it difficult and unsafe to walk. The area is also quite dirty, which adds to the discomfort. We would really appreciate it if this could be looked into and fixed as soon as possible.

Updates

  • The Street Lighting Team aim to repair all faulty lighting within 20 working days, however, there may be some circumstances that this time for repairs is be extended. For example, if it is an electricity supply fault, this will be passed to the local electricity network operator to attend and rectify as we cannot work on their network, in these cases we will update you to let you know it is an electricity supply fault.

  • Update

We have attended the site and have carried out a full assessment on the lighting column, 95% of lighting reports are repaired on the first visit, as they are generally more minor issues such as replacing the bulb. Unfortunately, there are occasions when further work is required.

This assessment highlighted that there is a fault with the electrical supply and further investigation is required by the local electricity network operator, we have forwarded the details to them. We cannot work on their network, and we also have no control over the electricity supplier service levels, which tend to be up to 90 working days.

Once the electricity supplier has contacted us to advise the supply fault has been resolved, we will then check that the issue is fixed and will update this report.
