Missing gate and fence
Reported via iOS in the Pedestrian Barriers - Damaged / Missing category by Cllr Scott W. Packer at 15:03, Sat 30 August 2025
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8095675.
As you can see from the photos there used to be a gate and fence here both and missing. The gate stops people using bikes etc. over the bridge and the fence was there to stop anyone falling into the brook. Can this be looked into please.

You can also keep up to date on highways by following us on Facebook and Twitter @wnhighwaysThank you for your enquiry. We have raised a works order to install a new timber post & rail parapet which should be completed within 6 months. With reference to the gate our records show that there has not been one at this location dating back to 2013. We can advise that we actively discourage the installation of specialised and commercially available ‘motorcycle barriers or gates’ at access points on footways, rights of way, alleyways etc. They are expensive, unpleasant to see and generally do not work. If individuals are determined to conduct illegal riding of motorcycles / bicycles on public footways, specialist barriers are not really that effective as people can lift a motorcycle / bicycle over the ‘inhibitors’ and carry on. Additionally, they can cause access issues with pushchairs, buggies and wheelchair/mobility scooter users and those with walking difficulties.
