Excessive traffic on West End at bust times due to roadworks in A43

Reported via mobile by Lorraine Martin at 05:01, Fri 15 August 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8027922.

Traffic is backing up on the A43 from Brackley at the Silverstone turning because it is avoiding the roadworks on the A43 further along towards Towcester. It is then funneled into a single track end of West End and causing excess traffic and difficulties for any traffic going the other direction along West End. It's a nightmare for residents and one neighbour has had a cat killed recently (although it was not clear if it was a traffic incident). The road is now not safe for families and dog walkers as there's no pavement in places. The problem has steadily got worse as people follow Thier Satnavs or just simply try to bypass the roadworks. It is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident because cars speed up despite the advisory speed limit of 20 when the road widens at the SRA end of West End.
