Damaged bridge over Great Brook

Reported via desktop anonymously at 19:14, Thursday 14 August 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and West Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8027139.

Timescale to repair the badly damaged bridge over the Great Brook? We are moving ever closer to Autumn and Winter, it is essential that the access from Chimney via The Bridge over the Great Brook to Aston is repaired and maintained. The Great Brook Road is closed most of the Winter months, should the Bridge Collapse the Hamlet of Chimney would be cut off completely. Recently one of the peers has become detached from the main bridge and is strapped to a metal hurdle. Surely now is the time to fix the problem before winter sets in, and the Brook levels rise, putting pressure on a very unstable bridge with the possible outcome the hamlet is completely cut off. • The furthest barrier on the r/h side as you approach from Cote is loose(snap tie broken)and moving about in the wind sometimes blocking the road. Drivers have to get out and move it. Something more robust needed, or better still repair the whole structure.
