30mph signs removed road safety issue

Reported via mobile in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 10:21, Mon 11 August 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8007355.

I’m aware that new development will be in 30mph speed zone but the 30mph sign in above photo has now been removed (see photo) - presumably it was put there for a reason? If signs were not erected properly they need to be replaced appropriately asap. The Bridleway temporary diversion exits onto the road near this point and entrance is not easily visible from road - just beyond my black car in other photo. All vulnerable road/Bridleway users are now having to exit onto busy Nobottle road within 60mph zone between where diversion exits and Harpole lane. Normal position of Bridleway exits opposite Harpole lane so was easier for users to cross road quickly and avoid traffic. The temporary diversion route needs appropriate safety signage/temp speed limit signage to get motor vehicles to slow down along this stretch. The verges are narrow and also more hgv’s coming in and out of development- more likelihood of motor traffic coming into conflict with vulnerable road users whilst temporary diversion is in place. The entrance/exit from temporary Bridleway diversion needs to be clearly visible to oncoming traffic. Any long overgrown overages need to be cut. Road safety issue. Harlestone parish path warden

  • Visited site again this morning. Work access signs still obscuring entrance to Bridleway onto road, potentially need placing further back from entrance. There are some blue signs but vehicles potentially need to slow down to read and only on development side of road. Actual hazard warning signs may be more conspicuous. Temp 30mph sign and conspicuous Bridleway entrance sign would be useful if possible. Verges still overgrown.
