Loose Manhole Cover

Reported via mobile in the Manhole category anonymously at 07:07, Fri 8 August 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7995863.

There is a loose manhole cover on the Curbridge Road towards Witney. It is directly in front of the bus stop next to the footpath at the Windrush Estate. Last night three youths were seen lifting the cover and attempting to take it away. Two members of the public intervened. The cover is back on now but is not fixed properly.

  • The manhole was re-seated some weeks back, but now it makes a very loud noise when vehicles run over it. I can hear from my house some 300 metres away, it must be very disturbing for those living adjacent to. I think at some point it will cause damage to a vehicle as it must be lose or incorrectly fitted.
