No double yellow lines Lansdown lane Bath.

Reported via desktop in the Faded road markings category anonymously at 20:03, Thursday 7 August 2025

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7995105.

This is an extremely busy and dangerous main road into Bath. It is narrow and very steep and is the place where we had a serious crash involving a runaway lorry which killed a small child and 4 adults in a car about 8 yrs ago. Why are there no double yellow lines which are present on all the other main roads into Bath eg Bathwick hill, Wells rd, North rd, Widcombe hill, Ralph Allen drive. These roads are protected from runaway vehicles by stopping irresponsible cars and vans parking on the downward side of this steep and narrow road. Some years ago a runaway taxi demolished the whole of my front wall by using my wall to stop when its brakes failed. Another time a Ford transit van bounced off my front wall and ended up on the opposite pavement. It is only a matter of time before another serious accident occurs! This is URGENT!

  • Lansdown lane between Broadmoor Park and Brookfield Park is the worst affected by cars parked on the road or on the pavement. There are numerous vehicles (including Lorrys and double decker buses) coming down Lansdown lane breaking heavily and have caused the tarmac surface to distort and ripple. These few parked cars cause long tail backs to queue right up the lane increasing the chaos and traffic pollution plus they hinder school children at the 3 children’s crossings at the beginning and end of school. I believe we should have double yellow lines from the traffic lights at junction of Broadmoor lane and downwards. This would result in safer free flowing traffic , reduce inconsiderate parking, reduce pollution and reduce the risk of a disaster from runaway vehicles coming down the hill especially the hundreds of school children that cross this very busy main road everyday in term time.
