Unnecessary Lane Closure on A33 Reading Road

Reported via desktop in the Other Road Issues category anonymously at 07:33, Thu 7 August 2025

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7990629.

An entire lane of the A33 Reading Road has been closed due to a fault with the pedestrian traffic lights. Temporary traffic lights have been installed to manage the situation, so everything is operating as normal. However, despite several days passing, no visible repair work appears to be taking place.

Given that these are pedestrian-controlled lights and the footfall in this area is minimal, it is difficult to justify the continued closure of a full lane on such a busy route. This prolonged disruption is causing unnecessary inconvenience to road users, particularly tax-paying drivers, and seems disproportionate to the issue at hand.
