Tree causing damage to my property

Reported via mobile in the Tree touching building category anonymously at 12:08, Mon 4 August 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7976094.

Dear sir/madame,

I am writing to raise serious concerns regarding a large tree situated directly outside my property. The tree’s branches extend over my boundary wall and are now physically touching parts of my property.

There are multiple issues caused by this tree:

Overgrown branches: The branches overhang not only into my front garden but also above the nearby parking spaces, making it difficult for residents to park their vehicles without having sap and leaves all over their cars.

Falling leaves and tree sap: During autumn, a significant volume of leaves falls into my garden and onto cars, creating a considerable nuisance. Additionally, tree sap drips onto the vehicles, damaging the paintwork and limiting available parking options.

Root damage: Most concerning of all, the tree’s roots have spread into my front garden and are actively causing damage to my property. My boundary wall has developed several cracks, which persist even after repeated repairs. I am now deeply worried that the roots may eventually damage the structural foundation of my house, posing a serious safety risk.

While planting some plants in my front garden, I noticed just how extensive and large the roots have become. This has confirmed my concern that the tree poses a direct threat to my property.

Given the ongoing and worsening damage to my wall and the risk to my home, I respectfully request that the council give this matter urgent attention and arrange for the removal of this tree.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your prompt response.
