Loud noise caused by worn or faulty expansion joints on the A10 bridge whenever vehicles pass over, severely impacting residential quality of life

Reported via mobile anonymously at 20:26, Thu 31 July 2025

Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7962546.

I am writing to raise a concern about the excessive noise coming from the A10 overpass near Ware Road, specifically by the expansion joints on the bridge. Every time a vehicle passes over these joints, there is a loud clanking or banging sound that carries directly into the nearby residential properties (particularly around house numbers 408–418 on Ware Road). This noise is constant throughout the day and night, significantly affecting our quality of life, including sleep disruption and general stress. I would like to request that National Highways investigate the condition of the expansion joints and consider whether any noise-reducing maintenance or upgrades can be carried out to address the issue.
