Congratulations. 7 years ago there were but 2 rat burrows along this long, formerly well maintained grass verge directly facing residential housing.
Since NRS decided to ‘naturalise’ this plot a few years ago ie stopped cutting it entirely or, at best, partially cut on the A814 side (!) - and failed to delitter - there are now multiple groups of rat burrows along the entire plot length & increasingly bold and visible rats. These have only become visible after the entire plot was finally cut (and de-littered - shock) just recently.
So, please have someone now attend asap & deal with this rat infestation before it transfers to the residential housing opposite & beyond.
And the only 'biodiversity' that has occurred since ‘naturalisation’ is the appearance of nettles. All of which next to a pavement that is used daily by nursery and primary age children. Rats, nettles, and 5ft high rye grass & weeds - lovely.
NOTE: This rat issue was first formally raised in 2022 via @myglasgowcc. In April 2025 I was told a Pest Control Officer would 'visit the site to undertake an assessment and put in place appropriate measures as required.' I asked to be updated re same - I wasn't. I then submitted an FOI about the assessment on 15th May 2025 - I have still not heard back. It's now 27th July 2025.
Those photos represent just a *small* selection.
