On 20th July water backed up on road during heavy rainfall. Rainfall lasted about 15 mins. Water backed up on road rapidly and as cars drove into it the wake of water was coming up to our front door. Took about an hour to actually drain away. Concerning that a short period of heavy rainfall was not handled by the drainage. Potential property flooding could have happened had it continued for a short time longer as you can see from the image.

Gullies vary in the speed they can drain water away and some will overflow during heavy rain even if there is no blockage. This does not necessarily mean the gully requires cleaning, and in such cases the water will clear when the rain stops. We will not visit overflowing gullies during heavy rainfall unless the water is causing a risk to life or property.
