My property is getting flooded every time we have medium to heavy rainfall. the area where my driveway joins the road is also the route the water takes as it flows down the road and when it reaches my property it breaches the join and floods my property in 3 places. we are at the foot of a hill and the current way the road is designed is forcing all the water from up the hill, into our property. currently i have 20 sandbags that i have to run out and line my property with to deviate the water any time it rains. this is far from a permanent solution and work needs to be undertaken to stop this. i have had 2 groundwork specialists out but they won't touch it as they say the council are responsible and can't touch it. the current storm drains are ineffectual as they on the higher side of the road where very little water flows, if any. the road is used by lorries, tractors and buses as well as cars which have all worsened the issue as they often have to drive on my property to avoid the parked cars of properties opposite ours. this has crushed our boundary bricks into the ground and further enabled the water to gush into our driveway and onto our property. we have been flooded 3 times in the last year, once about 1ft deep coming about 1/2 inch from entering my property through air bricks and all three times flooding the entrance to my front door. all because the water has no drains or gulleys to enter on our side of the road. please can you advise who we can speak to about getting this rectified so my property is not flooded again asap. according to the groundworks specialists we need to raise our driveway to create a barrier and drains need to be installed to carry away the water. it has also been mentioned that double yellow lines outside our house as our neighbours have got would allow traffic to pass and not cross and break our boundary.
