Cars going down a one way street

Reported via mobile in the Road signs category anonymously at 19:36, Sat 19 July 2025

Sent to Brighton and Hove City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7903307.

Can we ask if a CCTV to be installed on our street to catch and charge penalties to drivers coming down the street the wrong way?

We are a one way street and so many cars use it to get straight onto Elm Grove. It cuts out the corner at the bottom of Islingword Road. Especially if it is cueing. We have a lot of children on the street who know to look one way, but not necessarily the other.

There have been a few near misses over the last week and if you challenge anyone you get a lot of abuse.

Over a typical day we can get 30 cars going the wrong way.

We did ask for the one way sign on the road to be repainted, so thank you, but we need further interventions before there is a serious accident with a child, pedestrian or other driver.

Updates

  • Sorry I’m not sure I put Milton Road is our street that is having problems.
