Blocked drain
Reported via mobile in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 13:38, Fri 18 July 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7898520.
The pipe leading from the catch pit next to Newnham Road to the brook is blocked causing water to backup and sediment to settle. We are concerned that this may undermine the house foundations next to it as the pit walls are dilapidated. There could be a risk to the highway of collapse or members of the public falling in. We have dug out quite a lot of the sediment while it was fairly dry but found that there is rubble blocking the outflow pipe which is beneath the highway.

Please can details of the repair proposed be shared. Surveyors from Anglian Water were surveying in the road / catch pit on Monday 20 April. They sprayed a blue shape within the pit. The catch pit continues to block due to the outflow pipe being restricted. The pit silts up as the flow can’t escape quickly enough causing further erosion of the pit walls. This has become more noticeable since the recent drainage works carried out on Fawsley Road.
