Overgrown hedges on east side of the road causing on coming traffic to drive down the centre of the road on a blind corner
Reported via mobile in the Hedges category anonymously at 10:46, Wed 16 July 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7885726.
The issue has been present for at least 2 years, however this year’s growth has made it very dangerous for:
* walkers - the local land owner has now revoked permissive walking on field margins, so in order to link public footpaths the road must now be used. Children also have to use the road in order to get to friend’s houses in the neighbouring villages
* motorists - Alpine staff and soho farmhouse members use the road as a cut through in addition to normal traffic, the opposite side of the road where the northbound traffic is forced off the road to avoid collisions and is eroding the verge and creating potholes.
* cyclists - many cycle clubs from Oxford and Bicester use the road through the village as a training loop, obviously together with local families enjoying a ‘quiet’ ride out
* horse riders - there is a livery yard at Ledwell so riders have to use the road to access bridle ways.
The vegetation is hanging into the road forcing traffic travelling southbound to use the centre of the road to avoid damaging their vehicle with branches protruding into the carriageway.
There is no footpath as technically out of the village however the road is used by children walking to the next village and horse riders.
Honestly it really is an accident waiting to happen. Please please could this be actioned as soon as possible to prevent an accident or injury.
