Birds being lost down slipway

Reported via mobile in the Park Repairs category anonymously at 13:42, Sun 13 July 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7868809.

I recently reported and attended a risky late night rescue of an Egytian gosling that had gone over the spillway. Birds are being lost over this spillway to meet a dreadful protracted death of starvation whilst also potentially having been injured. The spillway is also blocked with sticks abd debris. Please can some appropriate protection be put along the water's edge to prevent the loss of birds in this way and so save the need for such rescue

  • Thank you for your report. We have been in communication with the environmental agency who have advised we are unable to install any protection along the actual spillway. We have installed a new fence to prevent people entering the water near the spillway. Temporary signage has been put up and we are looking into permanent signage for waterbodies as a larger project across the borough.
