Post holes on public side of boundary

Reported via desktop anonymously at 18:16, Thu 10 July 2025

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7859032.

Today I was walking along the suburban footpath from Green Road, Kidlington, past the Girl Guides hut leading to Exeter Road and a longer branch to Oxford Road. There are two freshly dug post holes that are clearly on the public side of the boundary. (Uncovered and dangerous in the dark.) If the chain-link fence a little further on, on the boundary of the allotments is accurately positioned, these wholes are on public land. (With apologies for the photo quality.)

Updates

  • Thank you for your enquiry. This issue has been passed onto the relevant team for investigation.

  • On Tuesday 15 July I saw that a metal pole had been erected, set in concrete. Today, 17 July I saw that a second pole has been installed. I suspect that there are other fences that have encroached beyond their boundaries, but I take the chain link fence as the correct line.

  • A fence is now complete. Unless the chainlink fence in the foreground has been inaccurately located, this new fence is encroaching on the public highway. Would this be an issue for Cherwell DC rather than the County?
