Against the wall opposite Northwood Avenue
Reported via iOS in the Weeds category anonymously at 18:52, Wed 9 July 2025
Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7835309.
There are two patches of climbing nightshade (Solanum dulcamara) growing against the pavement and the wall. This is a toxic and invasive weed. The leaves and stems are toxic as well as the berries (and there are hundreds of them on the plants). I have safely removed one of the plants and cut it to the ground but it is not dead. I will tackle the other one tomorrow but can someone please come round and apply some weed killer along the junction of the wall with the pavement to try and kill it off

Thank you for your enquiry. Following a review on cost and effectiveness of weed spraying, we are not routinely spraying weeds on the highway. Instead, we review requests for treatment of weeds in channels, at the top of kerbs, in footways / alleyways (bordering a wall or fence), footpaths and link paths. As your request does not meet the criteria, no further action will be taken at this time.
We will continue to ensure the location is safe through our routine safety inspections which are conducted in line with our Code of Practice. More information is available on the following link:
