Lethal parking by crossing on Fairfield Road
Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 22:02, Sun 6 March 2016
Sent to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 782310.
I nearly took out a family waiting at the pedestrian crossing today (and I was not speeding), due to them being totally obscured by vehicles parking on the marked lines leading up to the crossing (see first image). You have no idea anyone is there (and if you were not local, you would not know the crossing was there either), until you are right on top of it. This crossing is badly designed anyway, as it is very poorly lit at night. Thankfully, the parents of the children waited on the side until I had stopped, but people race along Fairfield Road. Its a horrific accident waiting to happen. By making the crossing stick out into the road, they have created a handy row of parking spaces behind it. These being opposite the already marked parking spaces on the other side. In the mornings - add buses and its chaos. Sort the parking out in Fairfield, its getting out of hand

Yes I agree, it is happening all over Stockton as they tends to be no law enforcement, We have the same problems in Billingham, If police can pick registration numbers as cars go past( ANPR) they have the capacity to do the same for this offence. but firstly you need to see the police ! as they tend to be a rare breed
