Carriageway between Fools Nook and Bosley cross orads

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category by david ions at 11:18, Thu 3 July 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cheshire East Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 7802772.

The surface dressing of the A523 carriageway between Bosley Crossroads and the Fools Nook has been undertaken with substandard road chippings containing a significant proportion of aggregate greater than 10mm. There is evidence along the whole of the route surfaced dressed on 30 Jun of loose stones up to 25mm diameter lying in the carriageway. Loose stone chippings of this size are a serious hazard to road users, particularly those unprotected to the head area such as cyclists, as a result of flying chippings from the passage of vehicles. Your advisory speed limit to motorists in no way provides sufficient mitigation of the risk and should be addressed by sweeping the road immediately in order to remove teh hazard.
