Access road to Congleton station, parallel to Ayrshire Way

Reported via desktop in the Road Works category anonymously at 16:29, Wed 2 July 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7798576.

The recent roadworks (TRO) involving installation of pedestrian crossing and road realignment is incomplete. The bollards have not been installed that were intended to make the station entrance safer for everyone. So we continue to have two entrances next to each causing conflict and danger to pedestrians and those on cycles entering/leaving the station, the road to the railway cottages, and Ayrshire Way. Even worse at train times with a lot of drivers in a hurry, and at night.

This intersection is not safe and the works were meant to address this legacy mess of a junction. It would never have been designed this way but because the access road to the old Coop Creamery site became Ayrshire Way to lead to the housing development on the old site, it led to these two side-by-side entrances.

Please close off this entrance asap for safety reasons, as shown in the TRO.

Thanks.
