Hedge collapsed across pavement in addition to pavement weeds making path unusable in places

Reported via mobile in the Hedges category anonymously at 09:16, Saturday 28 June 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7777109.

Part of a hedge appears to have blown down completely blocking the pavement. However pavement weeds (your responsibility, OCC) are making the pavement unusable (without getting stung) in many places along a 300yd stretch. This has been reported annually for at least a decade now. Last year, for the first time in ages, you actually came along and did a good job proactively clearing it. This year we seem to be back to normal. This road carries 6-7000 vehicles per day. We have to walk in the road in places. Wheelchairs/pushchairs would have to be in the road for most of the length.

Updates

  • State changed to: Investigating

Updated by Oxfordshire County Council at 09:16, Saturday 28 June 2025

  • The collapsed hedge has now been cleared. However the path itself remains so overgrown with pavement weeds in places that it is impossible for anyone with a pram/stroller or wheelchair to use, unless the occupant is happy to be stung by nettles. The only alternative is walking down a busy/unlit road.
