Public play park in need of upgrade!

Reported via mobile in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 11:11, Fri 27 June 2025

Sent to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7773141.

Hi, For a number of years our play-park has been in decline. The Graig is not an affluent area, though very community based and the park was a popular hub for the local families. However, in recent years the park has become tired, unclean and at times dangerous. The old wooden chip flooring is in serious need of renewing, in winter your feer sink into thick mud underneath, (weeds and mushrooms keep appearing), scissors, glass and after bonfire night, firework debris has been found among the flooring. Play equipment is outdated, rusty and graffitied (there aren't swings on the frames anymore) and there is a very limited amount of things to play on! I don't want to complain too much as my 6 year old loves the monkey-bars and little climbing wall (despite the fact the handholds are dangerously wobbly and we narrowly avoided a very nasty high fall from high up.) The park is in a lovely area with beautiful views. Its such a shame that this much needed area is in such decline, outdoor play areas are essential for the health and wellbeing for children. Therefore an update for a safe and sanitary park would be very appreciated. (I have further photos and video should any others be required.) Thank you so much for you time. Mrs R Herbert.
