Light sequence change causing bottleneck

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 23:53, Thu 26 June 2025

Sent to Leeds City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7771362.

The light sequence of the entire roundabout has been changed and there is a bottleneck at the lights where the traffic exiting the M62 west onto the roundabout, and the traffic from Leeds to A650 Wakefield and A653 Dewsbury are unable to exit because the M62 traffic blocks the entire roundabout. When the lights change the lorries from thw M62 are very slow to gain momentum and so very few vehicles get through the lights and so the bottleneck increases. Also the leeds to a650 and a653 traffic block the M62 west traffic making it difficult for anyone to move. I think the lights are on green too long and don't leave a space for the other cars ro move into when lights turn green. I use this roundabout in and out of rush hour traffic. I have found it busy and blocked as per the above description during normal hours, and it requires assertive almost aggressive driving to navigate through in rush hour. It's extremely slow. We all drive to a stop at a red light and fill all the space so causing a blockage.
