This part of the Litchborough Road needs resurfacing

The rest of the Litchborough Road from Bugbrooke to A5 has been resurfaced but the right hand fork has not been. Why not

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified Highways Inspector has assessed the location and we can confirm that in accordance with the WNC Highways Inspection Manual, the defect meets the requirement for a Priority 4 repair. We will schedule a repair to be completed within 26 weeks. Our current average response time for a Priority 4 repair is 52 days.

This right hand arm of the road is used by all traffic wishing to turn right on to A5, so I can not understand why it wasn’t resurfaced at the same time as the rest of the Litchborough Road

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found), Defect Repair: Not Started - Thank you for your enquiry. Schemes are currently prioritised using our HEAT prioritisation tool that takes in to account a variety of factors such as condition & network impact, these factors include further considerations like safety, condition & location. Schemes are then prioritised holistically whilst also taking into account different treatment types.
In the case of Litchborough Road, there were a number of edge defects which were present. It was felt the most cost-effective approach would be to patch those areas in readiness for surface dressing. The surface dressing itself seals the carriageway stopping water ingress, and immediately improves surface texture, in turn improving safety for road users.
The application of surface dressing needs to be timely. We want to do it before the road deteriorates too much, otherwise: (a) extra patching reduces cost effectiveness; (b) delaying sealing the carriageway with a dressing increases the chance of structural defects due to water ingress. Therefore, surface dressing sites generally do not look as worn out as sites requiring resurfacing or reconstruction, as is the case of the right-hand fork. Of course, this section will continue to be inspected in-line with agreed investigatory levels and safety defects attended to by the area team.
All sections are prioritised throughout the network, and the HEAT tool will continue to be used in order to do this as agreed with West Northamptonshire Council.
