Traffic lights are holding red when there are no vehicles waiting to come out of Norn Hill
Reported via desktop in the Other Road Issues category anonymously at 07:23, Tue 17 June 2025
Sent to Hampshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7720506.
Traffic lights in the middle section of the roundabout are changing and holding red when there are no vehicles waiting to come out of Norn Hill. So if no vehicles are triggering the lights at the Norn Hill junction, why do they keep turning red? This is a change from normal behaviour in recent weeks.

This remains a daily problem. Traffic continues to be held unnecessarily by these traffic lights, and no vehicles are waiting to come out from Norn Hill or even Oakridge Road. Vehicles must wait at up to four separate sets of lights just to access Reading Road.
This inefficient phasing is leading to dangerous driver behaviour, including red-light jumping and speeding, as motorists attempt to beat the next signal change. The current setup is unsafe and requires urgent review and adjustment
