Clanking loose manhole cover on the A6 by Buckingham Road

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 15:41, Saturday 14 June 2025

Sent to Stockport Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7709553.

The manhole cover on the A6 Wellington Road South close to Buckingham Road (adjacent to St Thomas’s church) is obviously loose and makes a continuously clanking sound every time a vehicle drives over it. The issue has been ongoing for the last two weeks. Please can it be reset or replaced. I have children studying for exams and the continuing clank is extremely distracting - it has meant that the house windows have had to remain closed, even on the hottest of days, to deaden the noise.

  • The grid cover on the Manchester bound carriage way of the A6 by St Thomas’s church (Buckingham Road) is still not fixed. The cover still clanks and has done for nearly four months, if it is not sorted by the council soon, the residents of the area will have no choice but to either remove the cover or place a cone over the top., which could be disruptive. Please Stockport Coubcil - can you fix this!
