Buried water metre - now for almost a Year

Reported via desktop anonymously at 14:44, Wed 11 June 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7694426.

My previously reported problem has NOT been resolved. Our water metre is still buried by tarmack. Thames water need permission from you to proceed. They do NOT know who to contact, although you insist that they do. Please tell them. Someone has to give way - or is this an excuse to not do anything. No one seems to care. My husband is now refusing to pay bill untill something is done. So we will probably be cut off.

  • Why do you insist this is fixed when NOTHING has been done????

Posted anonymously at 10:04, Wed 18 June 2025

  • I have been in touch with Thames water and they cannot do anything as they are not allowed to dig up pavements without permission from you. If you could give them permission to do this they might be able to fix it. Otherwise nothing will ever be done

  • Nothing has been done, either by OCC or Thames Water to resolve this problem. Thames Water are sending threatening letters and demanding payment on a bill which is an excessive guess at water consumption. We are contacting the local OCC councillor for help, and will take the matter further if we do not have a satisfactory response from both OCC and Thames Water.
