Enfield council waste services and street cleaning

Reported via desktop in the Street cleaning category anonymously at 20:26, Mon 9 June 2025

Sent to Enfield Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7684918.

On the 8th May I met with senior waste services operator, Robert and one other man from the council. This was organised by Lee Shelsher, who was trying to help by arranging a meeting so I could point out the littered streets of concern. These include Winchmore Hill road, Eversely park road, Avenue road and Church hill, rarely cleaned and never properly cleaned by the council. These roads are all in Winchmore Hill, steadily in decline. My overall concerns I have collated for the ombudsman. But I would like my concern noted, that those streets had been fairly cleaned just before our meeting. My own road, college road, was cleaned for the first time in months. Robert insisted to me that residential streets were cleaned once a week. This is still entirely untrue, all of which I can evidence in a court of law. According to the stated cleaning rota, the council will not make public, Hoppers road is swept every Monday. Today is the third Monday now with zero street clean or cleanse of Hoppers road. The bin is never emptied and by Friday is overflowing. There are no frontline services and flats like those on Winchmore Hill road have become filthy with fly tips and overflow across the street. The section of church hill outside St Paul’s is never cleaned and a shaming indictment on the council s lack of respect towards church buildings. I am very concerned at the fact that this behaviour from a senior operative is essentially gaslighting and unprofessional behaviour. We can’t even get bins emptied anymore and Winchmore Hill is steadily looking like a filthy ghetto. The regular fly tipper on aversely park road N21 is never investigated and her dumped nappies and cigarette packs are picked up by me every day. To confirm, the roads are not cleaned once a week, or even once a month. Hoppers road will be on its fourth week uncleared by the council next week. In addition, this non cleaning is feeling targeted against me, like the online abuse I have faced from senior members of staff across the council, including Rick Jewell I also have not had a response to the petition to ask street cleaning and waste services to keep Enfield’s streets cleaned, sent to Ergin Erbil, Perry Scott and other senior leaders. All of the Bon removals have not helped and people are creating their own bins by liking up passing litter. Lytton avenue attached has not been cleaned for three weeks either.
